Ferry travel regulations

Welcome to GVB. We want to bring you to your destination in the most comfortable and safe manner possible. We kindly ask you to observe our house rules and follow the instructions of our staff.

Waste

Dispose of your waste in the litter bins.

Eating and drinking is permitted

For yours and other's safety, please ensure there is a lid on (hot) drinks. Please keep it tidy and pleasant for your fellow passengers.

No feet on the seats

Please do not place your feet on the seats so that seats remain available and clean for your fellow passengers.

Noise nuisance

You may not play music or perform on GVB ferries without written permission.

Do not smoke

Smoking is not permitted inside on the ferries. Smoking is only permitted on the back deck.

Bicycles and mopeds are permitted

Bicycles and mopeds with engine off may be walked on board. Please place your bicycle or moped in the indicated spot. GVB is not responsible for any damage to your bicycle or moped.

Engine off

Please turn off the engine and lighting of your vehicle while on board.

No alcohol or drugs

It is not permitted to consume alcohol or drugs on board or be so under the influence that you cause an inconvenience to fellow passengers.

Video surveillance

The ferries are equipped with camera and video surveillance.

The GVB house rules are based on the General Municipal By-laws (Art. 2.23) of the municipality of Amsterdam, the Inland Waterways Police Regulations (Art. 1.03) and the Tobacco Act (Art. 10 and Art. 11). Said articles are important for ensuring order, peace and safety are preserved as well as carrying out proper operations and preventing a nuisance caused by smoking on board our ferries.
