The GVB range of season tickets is changing

Last year we added a new travel product to our range: 'GVB Flex'. This allows you to travel throughout the Netherlands without a balance and gives you a discount at GVB. We also stopped the GVB Zone and GVB Only monthly season tickets. 

Why has the range changed?

Increasing numbers of travellers wish to simply be able to use different public transport operators or additional modes of transport, such as a a shared bicycle or shared car. Different tickets or season tickets are now required for this. 
The demand for greater flexibility when it comes to travelling and paying has also increased recently. People no longer wish to pay a fixed amount in advance - instead, preferring to pay for the journeys you actually make and paying less if you travel less or don't travel at all. 
We want to make this easier for travellers, which is why we have introduced GVB Flex. Our GVB Zone and GVB Only season tickets no longer meet these wishes, which is why we have stopped these travel products.

GVB Zone/Only monthly season ticket 
Since 1 January 2021, the monthly season tickets are no longer available. 

GVB Zone/Only annual season ticket (for private individuals)
- Since 1 January 2021, it is no longer be possible to new apply for an annual season ticket. 
- Up to and including 31 August 2021, you will still be able to extend your current annual season ticket, however. 
- From 1 September 2022, annual season tickets will no longer be available.  

What are my options?

Until 31 December 2020, it was possible to purchase a GVB Zone or GVB Only monthly season ticket or to apply for a new annual season ticket. Now that is no longer possible. 
If you wish to switch to a different travel product, GVB Flex or a Randstad Noord (North) Zone season ticket could be a good alternative.
