Cancel subscriptions and travel products

The coronavirus measures have led to many questions about early or interim cancellation of different types of subscriptions. An overview of the options is provided below.
You can cancel in different ways. The fastest method is with a MyGVB account.

Annual subscription

You can cancel your annual subscription on a monthly basis in MyGVB. Cancellation is possible from the first subsequent month and dependent on your payment collection date. Note! You will then lose the two free months at the end of the subscription period.

If you purchased a subscription at a GVB Service & Ticket counter, you can request a cancellation via the Customer Service web form. Here, too, cancellation is possible from the first subsequent month. Make sure you clearly indicate from which date the cancellation is to apply (retroactive dates are not possible), your public transport chip card number and its expiry date, your name and address details, and your bank account number. You will then receive a message from us when your subscription has been cancelled. You will still need to go to a GVB vending machine to collect your cancellation! Only then will your subscription actually be cancelled.

Note! Considering the coronavirus situation, the waiting times for GVB Customer Service are currently longer than what you are used to from us.

Business annual subscription

Your employer must do this. Your Employer can cancel the subscription for you.
If you acquired a business subscription via the Municipality of Amsterdam, Sigra or UVA, you can cancel the subscription yourself. For instructions, please see the manual you can find in the business portal. You will receive an e-mail when your subscription has been cancelled. You still need to go to a GVB vending machine to collect your cancellation! Only then will your subscription actually be cancelled.

Month subscription

A monthly subscription can not be cancelled in the interim.
A Randstad Noord Zone monthly subscription can only be cancelled early up to and including the second day of the validity of the subscription if you have not yet used it to travel. You can complete the Customer Service web form at our website. Remember to indicate your public transport chip card number and its expiry date and your bank account number.

Note! Considering the coronavirus situation, the waiting times for GVB Customer Service are currently longer than what you are used to from us.

GVB Flex subscription

For a limited time only, you can now cancel your GVB Flex from one month (normally three months) after the start date of the product and only per the first day of the month. You can request the cancellation using your MyGVB account. You will then receive a message indicating you must go to a GVB vending machine to collect the cancellation! Only then will your GVB Flex subscription actually be cancelled per the cancellation date. When you order a GVB Flex subscription again in future, remember that the period of one month (normally three months) — during which you will not be able to cancel — will start again.

You can also opt to switch your GVB Flex to a cheaper alternative, such as GVB Start Flex for € 2.50 per month. For more information, go to gvb.nl/flex
